Formally called Colorado City, Old Colorado City is a national historic district in the City of Colorado Springs. Founded back in 1859, the area was once overflowing with farmers, miners, ranchers, and other Colorado Settlers. In 1917 it was annexed by neighboring Colorado Springs, but the Old Colorado City historic district still maintains its relaxed charm with locally owned art galleries, quaint shops, and mom and pop restaurants. Old Colorado City is served by Colorado Springs School District 11.
Popular Old Colorado City neighborhoods include Bear Creek, Brookhaven, Crown Hill Mesa, Gold Hill Mesa, Old Colorado City, Promontory Point, Prospect Heights, and West Colorado Springs.
