Situated just 14 miles northeast of Colorado Springs along Highway 24, the town of Falcon was initially a quiet ranching community. Falcon developed into a railroad hub in the early 1900s, and since then has experienced rapid housing and population growth. Many people consider buying homes in Falcon because of its affordability and reputation for wide open spaces, although newer area housing developments provide more of a community feel with homes closer together and nearby stores and shopping. Popular Falcon neighborhoods include Falcon North, The Meadows, Elkhorn Estates, Meridian Ranch, Woodmen Hills, Paint Brush Hills, Falcon Hills, and Falcon Heights.
Some Falcon residents still use the town of Peyton as their mailing address, but Falcon does have it's own Falcon mailing address.
Shopping and amenities continue to grow in Falcon as the population increases. The Antler Creek Golf Course opened in the Meridian Ranch neighborhood in 2004, and is the longest golf course in Colorado. The High Prairie Library, a branch of the Pikes Peak Library District, opened in Falcon in 2010. Falcon School District 49 continues to grow, adding over a thousand students annually.
